Summary
A predictive model developed for the Songshan area during the Yangshao period (5000–3000 BC) demonstrates high effectiveness in identifying the geographical locations of unknown settlements. The model, validated using 563 known settlement sites, offers a rapid and reliable approach to archaeological heritage management by incorporating well-consolidated factors from existing literature. This study advances the field by proposing a practical method that can significantly aid in the discovery and mapping of ancient settlements, contributing to our understanding of the emergence and development of Chinese civilization.
