Summary

Researchers have established length-weight relationships for six teleost fish species found in the Bijagós Archipelago, Guinea-Bissau. This study is notable for providing data on three fish species—Citharichthys stampflii, Gerres nigri, and Psettodes belcheri—that are not documented in FishBase. Additionally, it expands the size range data for Eucinostomus melanopterus, Scomberomorus tritor, and Sphyraena afra. Samples were collected over five seasons using three fishing methods: beach and boat angling, beach seining (0.5–1 cm mesh), and drift netting (2 cm mesh). This work contributes critical baseline data for fish species in the archipelago, supporting sustainable fisheries management and ecological studies.
