Summary

A significant portion of tourists visiting Turkestan, including both domestic and international visitors, prioritize historical and cultural tourism, with 40.8% citing it as their main purpose for travel. Furthermore, 78.7% of respondents rated the tourism potential of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi—one of Central Asia's most renowned architectural landmarks—as high in terms of its contribution to sustainable tourism development. This study highlights the mausoleum's role as a key driver for sustainable urban tourism growth in Turkestan, offering insights that could address regional challenges in tourism planning.
