Summary

A comparison of three methods—fuzzy AHP, spatial correlation, and the Dong model—revealed that fuzzy AHP (accuracy 0.8) and spatial correlation (accuracy 0.92) are significantly more effective than the Dong model (accuracy 0.51) in predicting high-risk fire areas in Hyrcanian forests of Iran. The study overlaid actual fire perimeters with risk maps generated by each method, demonstrating that fuzzy AHP and spatial correlation closely align with observed fire patterns, while the Dong model showed only moderate agreement. This finding highlights the superior predictive power of fuzzy AHP and spatial correlation for forest fire risk assessment in this UNESCO-listed region.
