Summary
A review of 108 documents identifies biocultural elements that could serve as the foundation for developing ethnotourism in Mexico's Biosphere Reserves (BRs), including El Pinacate and Gran Desierto de Altar. The study highlights how tourism, particularly ethnotourism, can be a strategy for conserving ethnobiological attractions while engaging local communities and visitors. By analyzing global and Mexican BR research, the review emphasizes the potential of integrating traditional knowledge with conservation efforts to foster sustainable tourism models that benefit both biodiversity protection and cultural heritage preservation.
