Summary

A significant archaeological discovery at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ancient Thebes with its Necropolis reveals that a large tomb in Dra' Abu el-Naga underwent two major construction phases, shedding light on the transition from the New Kingdom to the late 20th Dynasty. Initial construction dates back to the late 17th or early 18th Dynasty, while extensive remodeling attributed to Ramsesnakht, the High Priest of Amun, marks its second phase. This study, conducted by a joint project involving the German Institute of Archaeology and UCLA, focuses on the Ramesside constructions and the tomb's reuse, offering new historical insights into this pivotal period in Egyptian history.
