Summary
A study on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Paraty and Ilha Grande reveals how social cartography, when integrated into school projects, can effectively bridge daily community life with spatial representation processes. The research highlights that involving students in creating tourist guides through a decolonial approach fosters meaningful engagement with their environment. This method not only enhances spatial awareness but also strengthens socio-territorial connections within the Caiçara communities of Pouso da Cajaíba and Praia do Sono, located in Baía da Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro. The findings suggest that educational initiatives rooted in local contexts can be powerful tools for both learning and territorial identity.
