Summary
Groundwater in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Huanglong is predominantly weakly alkaline, with calcium and bicarbonate ions as its primary constituents. A study analyzing hydrochemical characteristics reveals that total dissolved solids (TDS) are strongly correlated with these ions, suggesting their significant contribution to groundwater composition. The research, employing Piper’s trilinear diagram, Gibbs diagram, ion correlation analysis, and water-rock modeling, concludes that carbonate rock weathering is the dominant process shaping groundwater chemistry in the area, with minimal ion-exchange activity. These findings offer critical insights for sustainable water resource management and planning in Huanglong.
