Summary
A significant decline in the Spanish craft sector during the COVID-19 pandemic was revealed by a study conducted between March and May 2020. The research, led by the University of Granada in collaboration with the Centro Albayzín, used an online survey to assess the impact of lockdown measures on artisans across Spain. Findings indicated severe disruptions, including financial strain, loss of sales, and operational challenges, particularly among small-scale businesses reliant on local markets and tourism. The study highlights the vulnerability of traditional craft sectors to global crises, emphasizing the need for targeted support mechanisms to mitigate long-term economic damage.
