Effect of Overtourism on Residents' Quality of Life in World Heritage Cities

Overtourism significantly impairs residents' quality of life in Safranbolu. Nearly one-third of locals perceive the city as overwhelmed by tourism, citing adverse effects such as increased traffic congestion, parking issues, litter, water consumption, and noise pollution. Residents also express concerns about environmental degradation, including the deterioration of natural landscapes and the exceeding of ecological carrying capacity. Additionally, they worry about the potential devastation of cultural heritage due to excessive tourist numbers. The study employed statistical analysis, including factor analysis and multivariate regression, to derive these insights from resident perceptions.
