Summary
Peasant communities in Paraty, Brazil, demonstrate resilience through diverse strategies to counter the encroachment of capital over the past six decades. This study reveals a multicultural and heterogeneous campesinato characterized by shared traits, employing both individual and collective tactics—ranging from daily resistance within production units to broader movements and political networks—to preserve their way of life amid rapid territorialization of economic power. The research adopts a qualitative approach, centering on peasant voices as active agents in shaping their history.
