Summary

A rare glimpse into Roman-era glassware at Leptis Magna's Thermes du Levant reveals the coexistence of glass and selenite stone window panes within the same structure, alongside previously undocumented vessel shapes from the 3rd century. The study, based on extensive archaeological excavations (1994–2012), analyzes non-funerary glass artifacts—including tableware, lighting fixtures, gaming pieces, jewelry, and window materials—to trace imports from Egypt and local production in Proconsular Africa during Late Antiquity. This comprehensive documentation challenges assumptions about material use in Roman baths while providing insights into trade networks and craftsmanship in North African regions.
