Summary

A comprehensive inventory of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) in Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal, identifies 62 species with significant variation in diversity and distribution. Highest species richness (31 species) was recorded along the Manjo Gate to Larja Dobhan route, while the lowest diversity (Simpson’s Index: 0.90419) was observed between Tyanboche and Pangoche. Ten species, including threatened Allium hypsistum and Cordyceps sinensis, were highlighted as particularly valuable for local use but at risk. The study employed Simpson’s diversity index and Shannon Weaver function to quantify heterogeneity and evenness, revealing critical patterns for conservation prioritization.
