Summary

Recent archaeological research in the Singida Region of central Tanzania has uncovered a rich and composite heritage, including well-stratified deposits with lithics, ceramics, metallurgical remains, human remains, and animal bones. The study, conducted between 2021 and 2022, identified 31 archaeological sites in Ikungi District, with excavations at an open-air site (Nkungi) and a rock shelter (Itramuka). These findings highlight the region's diverse geo-heritage and emphasize the importance of preserving its varied landscape. The research also underscores the need for local community engagement to ensure the sustainability of multidisciplinary studies in this area.
