Summary
A pioneering study reveals that the stonefly fauna of the Putorana Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern East Siberia, is notably impoverished, comprising only 12 species from 9 genera and 5 families. This marks the first comprehensive investigation of stoneflies (Insecta, Plecoptera) in this region. The research, conducted across nine areas using 12 sampling techniques between 2019 and 2024, identified five Capniidae, three Chloroperlidae, two Nemouridae, one Leuctridae, and one Perlodidae species. Seven of these species are newly recorded for the north of Eastern Siberia. Stoneflies were found inhabiting all types of running and standing waters across all altitudinal zones, from boreal forests to mountain deserts. Chorological analysis indicated a predominance of East Palaearctic distribution among the species.
