Summary
A geomatic-based surveying and modeling methodology, utilizing structured-light projection scanning, has successfully captured high-resolution 3D data of a ritual receptacle from the semi-subterranean temple at Tiwanaku. This approach, implemented using open-source software, emphasizes surface details to support archaeological interpretation of the receptacle's iconography. The resulting outputs—unrolled meshes, digitally enhanced surfaces, and vector graphics—offer new insights into the culture and religion of the Tiwanaku civilization, while establishing a quick and repeatable methodology for similar studies.
