Synopsis of Leguminosae from Iguaçu National Park, Paraná, Brazil

A comprehensive survey of the Leguminosae family in Iguaçu National Park, Brazil, identified 63 native species across 40 genera, with notable discoveries including 24 new records for the park and two endemic species to Paraná. The study, conducted through extensive field expeditions and herbarium surveys from April 2018 to May 2019, revealed distinct distributions between Semideciduous Forest (SF) and Araucaria Forest (AF) areas, with five species exclusive to AF and 51 unique to SF. Additionally, two threatened species were documented: Apuleia leiocarpa and Gleditsia amorphoides. The research provides a detailed identification key, illustrations, and geographical distribution insights, contributing significantly to the understanding of Leguminosae biodiversity in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
