Summary

Anastilosis, the re-erection of ancient temple remains using original fragments, enhances structural integrity and preserves authenticity while improving visitor experience. This study evaluates two notable examples—Letoon Leto Temple (160–130 BCE) in Xanthos-Letoon and Pergamon Traian Temple (114–129 CE) in Bergama—focusing on criteria such as archaeological coherence, material authenticity, structural systems, and construction techniques. Findings emphasize that re-erected structures should maintain their original context to avoid disrupting the site’s integrity, prioritizing temples with substantial surviving materials. Additionally, new structural designs must not compromise the original elements' preservation.
