Summary

A novel approach combining non-destructive image processing with material sampling and laboratory analyses has successfully mapped degradation patterns on the masonry walls of Paphos Harbour Castle, Cyprus, without compromising its preservation. This multi-disciplinary methodology minimized invasive techniques while providing comprehensive insights into the monument's state of preservation across all external façades. The study demonstrated that rectified images, when paired with analytical methods, can offer a semi-automatic evaluation of deterioration on larger scales, enhancing our understanding of built heritage conservation.
