Summary
A significant transformation in the urban landscape of Damascus during the late Ottoman period is highlighted by the construction of Uthman Nuri Pasha's residence, which marked the development of new districts along the city's communication channels. This study reveals how the expansion of al-‘Afif and Jisr al-Abyad neighborhoods, adjacent to the historic Damascus Salihiyya gardens, integrated into the city's growth, reflecting broader urban changes and cultural influences. The research employs a historical and architectural analysis, focusing on the evolution of these suburbs along one of the ancient paths connecting through Damascus. This work contributes to the understanding of Damascene life during this pivotal period, offering insights into the interplay between urban development and social dynamics.
