Summary

Research identifies two key groundwater aquifers in Wadi Morra, South Sinai, Egypt: the Nubian sandstone aquifer and the fractured basement aquifer. These aquifers are present along the northern part of the Saint Catherine - Nuweiba road but absent to the south due to faulting. The study used Schlumberger Vertical Electrical Soundings (VESs) with a maximum electrode spacing of 700 meters, analyzing 17 VES profiles to construct geoelectrical models and cross-sections. This approach revealed five distinct geoelectric layers, two of which are water-bearing. The findings divide the study area into two zones: one with groundwater presence (Zone A) and another without (Zone B), due to the absence of basement rocks at shallow depths. The research recommends Zone A as the optimal location for productive well drilling.
