Summary
Historical masonry structures, such as the Mozaffarieh Timche in Tabriz's UNESCO-listed bazaar complex, lack seismic resistance due to their original design focusing solely on gravitational loads. Research reveals that both orthogonal walls and vaults exhibit inadequate lateral load capacity, necessitating retrofitting to prevent collapse or extensive cracking during earthquakes. Two strengthening methods are proposed: steel ties to reinforce and connect walls, and a spatial structure on the roof to control vault displacement. These interventions significantly improve seismic performance while preserving the historic architectural integrity of the structure.
