Summary
A comprehensive geomorphological map of the Melka Kunture Palaeolithic site, Ethiopia, reveals significant water-related degradation processes and structural landforms in the Upper Awash Basin. This is the first detailed study to integrate high-resolution airborne and satellite data with extensive fieldwork, identifying and visualizing key geomorphological features. The research also highlights areas affected by intensive erosion and anthropic activities using multispectral satellite imagery. The resulting 1:15,000 scale map, available as an interactive WebGIS application (www.roceeh.net/ethiopia_geomorphological_map/), provides a valuable resource for understanding the landscape dynamics of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
