Summary

A salvage excavation at 7 Shone Halakhot Street in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City revealed significant layers spanning the Second Temple period, Medieval times, and the Ottoman era. The study identified a quarry from the Second Temple period and walls that served as the foundation for an Ottoman-period building still in use today. Faunal remains were analyzed to reconstruct dietary practices and environmental conditions across these historical periods. The research, conducted by R. Bouchnick, provides insights into the region's faunal composition and human-animal interactions over a span of two millennia.
