Summary
The Renaissance marked the rebirth of theatrical modernity in Italy, driven by collaborative efforts from artistic vanguard disciplines, humanist theoretical support, and financial backing from emerging aristocratic elites. This period saw the revival of permanent theatre construction, exemplified by the Olympic theatres in Vicenza and Sabbioneta, as well as the Teatro Farnesio in Parma. These structures embodied the social imperatives of the late 16th and early 17th centuries, serving as powerful propaganda tools for legitimizing the new political and economic aristocracy. The study highlights how theatre became a microcosm of conceptual innovation, wielding enduring influence and power through its imagery.
