Summary
Göbekli Tepe, located northeast of Şanlıurfa in southeastern Turkey, stands as one of the most significant archaeological sites from the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period (10th–9th millennium BC). The site's monumental structures, formed by debris from ancient constructions, have been systematically excavated since 1995. Recent excavation campaigns focused on erecting permanent shelter structures to preserve this remarkable ruin hill. Göbekli Tepe challenges traditional narratives of early human societies, offering insights into complex architectural achievements and social organization during a period previously thought to lack such sophistication.
