Summary

Researchers have identified three new species of brachypterous katydids (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) from Iguaçu National Park, Brazil, alongside a previously recorded species. The study highlights distinctive morphological traits such as male genitalia, stridulatory files, cerci, and subgenital plates for all four species. Notably, one of the new species, Xenicola xukrixi, exhibits an unusually high carrier frequency in its calling song, peaking above 70 kHz. This discovery enriches the biodiversity documentation of the region and provides insights into the bioacoustics of these insects.
