Summary

A comprehensive survey of deer stones in Zuunkhangai sum, Uvs Province, Mongolia, has identified 32 such monuments, including 16 previously recorded and 16 newly discovered. These stone markers, dating to the Bronze Age, predominantly lack animal depictions but feature traces of ochre paint and distinctive engravings such as bows, arrows, and spears. The study, conducted by a joint Mongolian-American research team since 2015, employs archaeological surveys and excavations to document and analyze these sites, contributing significantly to the understanding of Bronze Age cultural practices in northwestern Mongolia.
