Summary

Researchers have discovered and described a new species of Heliotropium, Heliotropium perlmanii, endemic to the Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia). This plant, found exclusively on Eiao Island, is closely related to another Marquesan endemic, Heliotropium marchionicum. The study provides an amended description of H. marchionicum and a key to distinguish between the two species, highlighting their morphological differences. This contribution advances the understanding of the region's vascular flora, particularly within the Boraginaceae family.
