The Dacian Fortresses of the Orăștie Mountains, inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1999, face significant challenges including poor conservation, vandalism, and lack of promotion. While only one fortress has a site manager, all six suffer from a complex interplay of factors contributing to their deterioration. This study identifies these issues, providing a foundation for potential solutions and reflecting on the broader implications for heritage management.
