Summary

Archaeological evidence challenges the assumption of strong commercial ties between Palmyra and Hatra, revealing limited Palmyrene presence in the latter. Contrary to past beliefs, only one Palmyrene relief was found in a small shrine within Hatra's residential area, suggesting minimal cultural or economic influence from Palmyra. This finding is further supported by comparisons with other cities like Dura-Europos, where Palmyrenes are more prominently represented. The study employs a comparative archaeological approach to reassess the nature of interactions between these ancient cities in the Fertile Crescent.
