Summary
Establishing a geopark in Abu Roash, located just 9 km north of the Great Pyramids of Giza, could significantly benefit the local community by promoting geoeducational opportunities and geotourism. A detailed field study mapped potential areas for the geopark, while a questionnaire assessed stakeholders' knowledge and attitudes toward geoheritage and geopark establishment. The research suggests that integrating geotourism with existing ancient Egyptian sites in the region could provide substantial economic advantages to residents of Abu Roash City. This proposed geopark would be the first in metropolitan Cairo, offering both scientific and public engagement while expanding Egypt's geotourism sector.
