Summary
A comprehensive analysis of furniture fragments from the Dra‘ Abu el-Naga necropolis in Ancient Thebes has revealed a diverse range of previously unrecognized objects, significantly expanding our understanding of funerary practices and craftsmanship during this period. Initially, only five complete pieces were known, but ongoing research has identified numerous additional types of furniture through detailed examination of fragmentary remains. By analyzing construction techniques, surface features, and contextual associations within the necropolis, researchers have gained insights into manufacturing processes, object longevity, and the specific burial contexts in which these items were placed. This study provides a more nuanced picture of how furniture was used and preserved in ancient Egyptian burials.
