Evolution of approaches to wooden architecture preservation

A comparative analysis of preservation approaches for wooden architecture, particularly the temples of Zaonezhie and Kizhi Pogost, reveals that no single method is universally effective. The study identifies a classification system to objectively assess the suitability of preservation techniques based on specific historical and environmental factors. SWOT analysis further highlights regional opportunities and threats, such as climate conditions and cultural significance, which influence the longevity and restoration potential of these fragile structures. While traditional methods have shown limitations in addressing 21st-century degradation, innovative approaches—such as adaptive reuse and material science advancements—offer promise for sustainable conservation.
