Summary
Research reveals that the medical and calendar texts within the miscellanies of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius (15th–early 16th centuries) exhibit significant similarities to Byzantine codices, suggesting a complex transmission history involving multiple textual versions. This study highlights the blending of Eastern Orthodox traditions with growing Western and Jewish influences in Muscovy during this period, particularly in medicine and astronomy. By comparing these miscellanies to contemporary Russian manuscripts, the research identifies specificities in the medical texts available at the Trinity Lavra, shedding light on their origins and evolution. The findings underscore the dynamic interplay of cultural and intellectual exchanges that shaped scholarly practices in medieval Russia.
