Summary
A significant transformation in tourism-related facilities within Sagarmatha National Park and its Buffer Zone (SNPBZ), Nepal, has been driven by rising tourist numbers, improved porter accommodations, and migrant labor. This study reveals that such changes have led to imbalanced development and unequal benefits among villages, posing challenges for sustainable mountain development. To address these issues, diversification of trekking routes and enhancing facility and service quality are suggested as potential solutions. The research employed questionnaire surveys targeting facility owners and managers, alongside interviews with community leaders, officials, and school principals between 2017 and 2019. These findings underscore the dynamic nature of facilities in mountain regions, providing critical insights for sustainable development strategies.
