Summary
Ethnocentrism among local residents significantly influences both positive and negative outcomes of cultural heritage tourism along the Silk Road, with patriotism increasing ethnocentric attitudes while cultural openness mitigates them. A quantitative study involving 146 residents in Central Asian heritage areas used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) to reveal these relationships. The findings highlight the importance of addressing cultural differences and fostering regional cooperation to enhance tolerance and social interactions, offering valuable insights for tourism practitioners and policymakers in Silk Road countries.
