Summary
The geological evolution of the Western Tien Shan and adjacent Central Asian basins is characterized by complex tectonic activity spanning from the Precambrian to the Cenozoic. This study reveals that the region's current landscape—marked by an elongated mountain range flanked by extensive sedimentary basins—emerged through a series of continental collisions, terrane accretions, and fault reactivations, particularly during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras. The research highlights the significant impact of these tectonic events on basin development, as well as the influence of climatic changes on sedimentation patterns. Multidisciplinary approaches, including field observations, geological mapping, and sedimentary analysis, were employed to reconstruct this long-term evolution. The findings underscore the dynamic interplay between tectonics and climate in shaping the region's geological history.
