Summary

Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and commercial hub of Gujarat with over 5 million residents, is transforming its urban landscape through strategic green infrastructure (GI) investments to enhance resilience against socio-economic and ecological pressures. The city's 3rd Development Plan, led by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), aims to integrate GI projects like the Sabarmati Riverfront into functional ecological networks. A key finding from this study is that while the plan outlines ambitious goals, its implementation faces challenges in balancing strategic objectives with localized socio-environmental needs. The research evaluates the transition from policy rhetoric to practical delivery, drawing on stakeholder insights to assess whether GI projects are effectively addressing both broad and community-specific requirements.
