Summary
A comprehensive assessment of the northeastern slope of the Great Caucasus reveals significant geomorphological risks, particularly from landslides and mudflows, which pose threats to the region's inhabitants. The study, conducted between 1990 and 2020, utilized high-resolution aerospace imagery, morphometric analysis, and multi-temporal data interpretation to map the risk distribution and dynamics of these hazardous processes. Key findings indicate that excessive endo- and exogenous geomorphological activity, exacerbated by human pressure, necessitates advanced strategies for prevention, protection, and mitigation. The research proposes a new approach to assessing ecological-geomorphological risks, which can inform sustainable development plans for the region, including recreational and tourist activities.
