Summary

Researchers have identified two new species of Aphanodactylidae crabs from the Ogasawara and Ryukyu Islands, Japan. One, Takedactylus compressus n. sp., is distinguished by unique carapace shape, third maxilliped, and ambulatory legs, while the other, Lichtylus kaisha n. gen., n. sp., introduces a new genus characterized by its elongated palp of the third maxilliped, slender ambulatory legs, and distinct morphological traits. These discoveries bring the total number of Aphanodactylidae taxa to 7 genera and 15 species, expanding our understanding of crab diversity in these regions.
