Summary

Researchers have identified and described Pilea danxiaensis, a new species of Urticaceae native to the Danxia landform in Guangdong, China. Phylogenetic analysis using three DNA regions (ITS, trnL-F, and rbcL) confirms its placement within P. sect. Pilea, with morphological similarities to P. sinocrassifolia and P. peploides. The study also presents a detailed annotation of the species' chloroplast genome, which spans 151,857 base pairs and includes 113 functional genes. Conservation assessment classifies P. danxiaensis as Least Concern (LC), highlighting its stability in the wild.
