Summary

A recent study identifies new records for 25 bird species in the Middle Lena valley, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), including 17 rare species and 8 requiring status revision. Two species are listed in Russia's Red Data Book, while eight more appear in the Republic of Sakha's list. The research, conducted between 2023–2025 at the Batamai Bird Banding Station and Lena Pillars National Park, also documents breeding evidence for several species previously undetected in this region, suggesting a northward range expansion for two. Combining route surveys with bird banding proved effective for monitoring avian diversity and tracking long-term dynamics.
