Summary
Modern tourism, introduced to Hangzhou's West Lake Cultural Landscape around the 1910s, has significantly reshaped its scenic and historical areas over the past century. This study reveals that tourism-driven landscape regeneration—through infrastructure development, new attractions, and restoration efforts—has preserved key cultural values while expanding its influence beyond the lake into surrounding tea plantations and rural settlements. Notably, iconic sites like 'West Lake Ten Scenes' have undergone systematic repairs, ensuring the continuity of the landscape's core aesthetic and historical significance.
