Summary

A significant portion of tourists visiting Tanzania (611,767 in 2014) choose the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), yet its resources are underutilized or overused, limiting visitor satisfaction and revenue potential. The study reveals that most visitors learn about NCA through tour operator packages rather than direct marketing, indicating a missed opportunity for targeted promotion. Visitor income data shows that 77% earn less than $100,000 annually, suggesting economic accessibility is key to attracting more tourists. However, the findings highlight a critical gap: insufficient resource development and marketing efforts, which could enhance visitor motivation and extend stay durations. Addressing these factors could mitigate tourism threats, boost revenue, and sustain NCA's role as a major tourist destination in Tanzania.
