Summary

Research on the Western Tien-Shan region reveals distinct patterns in seismic activity, including shuttle migration of strong earthquakes with a recurrence rate and synchronicity between regional and large-regional seismic belts. However, deviations from this synchronicity were observed, such as delays in seismic activation periods. The study also identified natural and technogenic triggers for the Gazli earthquakes (1976–1984), including active fracturing, prolonged gas pumping, and underground nuclear explosions near the epicenter. These findings highlight complex interactions between tectonic stresses and human activities in earthquake triggering.
