Summary

A groundbreaking approach to the preservation of UNESCO World Heritage Sites has been demonstrated at Um er-Rasas (Kastrom Mefa'a) in Jordan. The research, led by CNR-ITABC, successfully integrated advanced techniques such as laser scanning and photogrammetry to create detailed geometric models of two Byzantine churches and their mosaic floors. These models not only enabled precise documentation of the archaeological area but also provided critical data for interpreting the masonry and mosaics' conditions.
