Summary

Despite being considered less developed, the Slovak Karst region exhibits karst forms with smaller depression densities and sizes compared to western plateaus. This study challenges the perception of underdeveloped karst by mapping two plateaus—Jasov and Zádiel—and analyzing their geomorphological features through a 1:10,000 scale map. The research reveals that these plateaus, characterized by flat reliefs with east-facing hills and valleys, host dolines and other karst forms, albeit in less pronounced manners. Morphometric analyses further compare the Slovak Karst to other European karst areas, contributing to a deeper understanding of its unique geological evolution.
