Summary
A study on the Historic Centre of São Luís reveals that the educational level and age of street vendors significantly influence their environmental perception, which in turn affects public health, urban quality, and policy-making. The research highlights how intensified urbanization impacts socio-economic dynamics, potentially degrading public spaces and increasing health risks due to pollution. Using exploratory and descriptive methods, including Quantum GIS 2.14 and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, the study mapped vendors' daily movements to model resource management strategies. Findings suggest that understanding individual perceptions can guide policies aimed at improving urban sustainability and quality of life.
