Summary

A seismic out-of-plane assessment of Podestà Palace in Mantua, Italy, revealed significant vulnerability in its north-east façade due to the lack of connection between orthogonal walls and tie-rods. Despite Mantua being marginally affected by the 2012 Emilia earthquake, the study's nonlinear kinematic analyses, using a macro-block model, accurately replicated observed damage patterns. This validated the modeling strategies and analysis methods employed. The research further identified optimal strengthening solutions that balance monument preservation with seismic resilience.
